{September 6, 2011}   2011 Predictions

2011 Predictions

It took me a long time to get here, but here they are The Sporty Girls 2011 Predictions! Not as confident as last years Green Bay pick, However I believe with the lockout it is truly hard to believe fully in any picks! Love it or Hate it, as always feel free to comment.

AFC East

New England Patriots- 13-3-The Patriots have proven that they can win regular season games; the problem has been the post season. I do not see this changing, while they have a weak schedule despite what some analyst say. Playing the AFC west when it is pretty unpredictable and weak is not a big challenge for a Patriots team that is used to winning.

New York Jets-12-4- The Jets have the same AFC west schedule to play. However, the Jets are often more vulnerable in the regular season. I think that they will improve on last year’s record with veteran players joining the offense I believe that Mark Sanchez will be able to grow.

Miami Dolphins-6-10-I was surprised that I had them above the Bills myself. I do not have faith in this year’s fins team with the loss of both backs and the QB situation still very questionable. However, with talent like Brandon Marshall I still believe they can pick of a few wins. They usually surprise people by beating the big guys.

Buffalo-4-12-I want to like the Bills; however, I am not sold on Fitzpatrick nor am I sold on their defense minus Posluszny. They had some close games last season but were unable to finish. I could see some surprising wins but I do not think this is the year for the Bills to get out of their funk.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens- 13-3-Everyone is high on the Steelers, but I am high on the Ravens. I like the way they play. Adding Ricky Williams to the backfield may diminish Ray Rice’s TD count but can only help improve the offense. In addition, you can’t say their defense isn’t good.

Pittsburgh Steelers-12-4- So they were in the SuperBowl last year….it doesn’t mean they will do it again this year. I am not saying that the Steelers aren’t talented but I do not think they made great improvements to make as big of a statement some are predicting….winning record and Playoffs? Yes! Superbowl bound? No!

Cleveland Browns-5-11-Rebuilding year for the Browns. I believe that Hillis will not live down the Madden curse, he should have rallied for Vick to win that contest. However, I think Colt will make some great strides to make his mark.

Cincinnati Bengals-2-14-To be honest I would not be surprised to see them with only one win. This team is a mess and they did nothing to try to clean it up. Andy Dalton isn’t the saving grace, and he has no one to throw it to anyways. Benson with his off field issues may not help, I have yet to hear of any suspensions.

AFC South

Houston Texans-10-6- Now this is based off the moves that were made in the off season and with a new DC and Jonathan Joseph I think they will have a better chance of actually reaching their potential. I think that if Schaub is on then they will win this division but barely. If not Kubiak’s job should be gone!

Indianapolis Colts-10-6- The uncertainty of Manning and the depletion of some defensive players, I just don’t know if the Colts can make their 10th straight playoff appearance. However, if anyone can bring their team into the playoffs it would be Manning. Not only that the SuperBowl is in Indy this year which is going to be a curse. I think it will be close but I am going to take a risk and give the Texans the edge.

Jacksonville Jaguars-6-10- The Jags have some talent in their arsenal, they did lose Mike Sims-Walker, but I think they have nice prospects for the future. Up until this week I thought that they may end up at or just above .500. However, cutting Garrard this late in the game makes me think that they are really looking at a rebuilding year.

Tennessee Titans-6-10-Not even the power of CJ2K can help this team this year. I think that Locker has the talent and learning with Hasselbeck will not hurt him. However, they lost a power player on defense in Tulloch. I just do not see many wins in their future, but they do have the talent to surprise people.

AFC West

San Diego Chargers-10-6- Every year someone predicts the Chargers to win the SuperBowl, yet every year that someone has been wrong. To be honest I don’t see this year as any different. They were able to add to their defense but with the loss of Sproles and a still yet unproven Matthews I do not believe. They have talent but this year I think they get back on top of the division but they move no further.

Kansas City Chiefs-8-8- Last year the playoff Chiefs had a very light schedule, this year they have a little more difficulty. Their offense still has a great running tandem in Charles and Jones, but Cassel still remains unproven. I think their lack of big play makers on defense gives them a mediocre year.

Oakland Raiders-6-10- Pryor was told her couldn’t wear his #2 jersey after being taken in the supplemental draft. The shadow of Jamarcus Russell still looms in Oakland. Campbell is the starter though and while I think he can play the offense is really going to rely on the strength of Darren Mcfadden who has been just begging for THE breakout season. Don’t be surprised when they win but just don’t expect that many of them. They still have work to do.

Denver Broncos-4-12- Orton, Tebow, Quinn, Weber? I know technically Orton has the starting job but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of movement during the season at this position. The new rule is the 3rd QB playing doesn’t negate the 1st two coming back. This team is going to be a lost cause even with a defense that can make plays.

NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles-12-4- There seems to be people all over the place on this one. There are some that predict no improvement over last years 10-6 while some think they will win everything. I personally think they will improve over last year. Their main concern should be Vick, he’s worth a lot of a money now and he needs to stop making risks on every play. They have a good running back in McCoy let him do the running! But if they can stay healthy I think they will have a first round bye.

Dallas Cowboys-9-7- I believe the Cowboys will make up for their disastrous year last year and will probably just miss the playoffs. I think the decision to bring in Rob Ryan will help their defense and they may surprise many people. However, I am not convinced with their running game, and think that it will be another year for Cowboy fans to see their team in the playoffs.

New York Giants-8-8-The Giants preseason has not been good for them and unfortunately, I don’t see things getting much better. Watching Manning in the preseason has not impressed me. They have talent in their wide receiver core, but I think the defense is going to bring them down.

Washington Redskins-4-12-I think counting four games may be giving them more than they can take. There is so much wrong going on in Washington I don’t think they can go right. They have some star players on defense but as a whole they ranked 31st last year. I don’t know why they didn’t pick up a QB in the draft but they may as well throw their hat into the Luck circus for next year.

NFC North

Green Bay Packers-13-3-The reigning SuperBowl champs have probably one of the best chances of repeating that I have seen in a long time. They not only have most of their players coming back, they have previously IR’d players back to play. I think this year they will easily take their division.

Detroit Lions-10-6- Here is one of my wild cards for the year. But this only happens if Stafford stays healthy, in a recent poll of who is the best QB from the 09’ draft Stafford topped the list. However, I can’t say the same at this point I would take Sanchez or Freeman over him. The reason? Stafford is too injury plagued! The Lions will not succeed without the offense to go along with what may end of being the best defense with the addition of Tulloch.

Chicago Bears-9-7- I think the Bears will miss out on the playoffs this year after a good run last year. I do not think they have the steam to get through it. Plus I do not think the issues on the O-line have been resolved. In addition, I do not know where Cutler’s mind will be this season.

Minnesota Vikings-5-11- AP may be the #1 back to most people, however I wasn’t impressed with what I saw last year. This will also be the make or break year for Donovan Mcnabb, if he can’t make the plays needed he will not start again in this league. Because of the problems they have carrying over from last year I just don’t see a lot of wins for them.

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons-14-2- Here’s the thing this is a team that does not get the respect it deserves. They have been in the Saints shadow and under the radar the last couple of years. They not only had the second best record last year they were the #1 seed in the NFC. How people forget! I think they will be the team to beat in the NFC and I can see them doing great things.

New Orleans Saints-12-4- It is not as if I do not see the Saints doing well, they just happened to be in the same division as the Falcons. In any other division, they would win it and have a home game. However again I believe that they will be on the road for wild card weekend.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers-9-7-I like the Bucs and I think they will be a team to beat eventually. However, they are at a disadvantage having to play two of the best teams in the NFC twice a year. I just don’t think this is their year and they will be where they were last year knocking on the playoffs door.

Carolina Panthers-3-13- They have their QB, but I remember last year. I do not think they have made enough changes in order to dig themselves out of the losing whole. Not only that, their division is tough to compete against. I liked to say good things are coming but I do not see anything for quite a few years.

NFC West

St Louis Rams-9-7- I still think that the NFC west will be the weakest division in the league. However, I think the improvements that the Rams made will put them on top. It will be interesting to see how the young Bradford will work out with some new offensive weapons.

Arizona Cardinals-8-8- Some people don’t think that Kolb is the solution. However, I think that his talent is apart of it. Many things need fixing like their running back situation. Letting go of Hightower is something I believe they will regret this year. Having someone that can throw to Fitz does make up for it. I think that they have a mediocre year.

Seattle Seahawks-4-12- umm…..remember last year? The first team to get to the playoffs with a losing record! I don’t think that will happen this year unless all the teams in the division have a complete meltdown. They gain Sidney Rice a player who has the potential to be a top 5 WR, but they have Tavaris Jackson throwing to him. Something doesn’t quite fit here and I think we will see it in the record at the end of the year.

San Francisco 49ers-3-13- I have said it since they hired Harbaugh, The Niners are going to lose a lot this year. Is it because Harbaugh was a bad choice? No, of course not I was all for the hiring. However, I knew that as soon as they hired him and Luck conveniently opting to stay for his senior season that Luck was in the Niners view. I believe that they will grab him come April.

 Packers  1   Last Week:1
The Reigning Superbowl Champs may have not been big in the Free Agency market but they bring back some major players that missed out on their Superbowl run due to injury. I think they deserve this rank.
Eagles 2    Last Week:10
Just basing it on paper, this team is the most dangerous in the NFC behind the Pack.
Patriots 3   Last Week: 7
They seem to always have a good squad but it hasn’t translated into playoff wins the last two years. People seem to be impressed by the addition of Ocho and Haynesworth…I on the other hand am not.
Jets 4    Last Week:4
I think they made some mistakes in the off-season but solid veterans joining on offense and strong young guys on defense makes a 3rd time possible.
Falcons 5   Last Week: 6
I don’t think people give this team enough credit. I like them and I think they have been the quiet but dangerous team in the NFC.
Saints 6    Last Week:12
They can win all the games they want but they need to make up for that embarrassing loss in the playoffs.
Ravens 7   Last Week:5
I think that one of the most interesting rivalries has been between the Ravens and Steelers. I had a hard time picking who to put in front of who. But I thin the Ravens have the edge.
Steelers 8    Last Week:7
It’s odd to put the current AFC champs down this low, however they didn’t convince me in their playoff run that they still have the juice to go at it again this year.
Colts 9   Last Week: 9
Manning coming off neck surgery, and a core coming off injury I just don’t know if this will be the best year for them. It may be the time for them to step off their AFC South pedestal.
Chargers 10    Last Week:15
They finally had a year without the December miracle to save them. However, I still think they are dangerous team in a weak AFC west.
Bears 11    Last Week:4
Da Bears….have not done much to improve their team this year. I think they are still strong enough to make an impact but not as impressive as the team that made it to the NFC Championship.
Giants 12    Last Week:13
They kept a lot of players, but they were able to add a few too…I just don’t know if I believe yet.
Jaguars 13    Last Week:16
People are not high on them right now, but I like them. They bulked up where needed, it’s the QB situation that could make or break them.
Rams 14    Last Week:19
I am disappointed in the Rams free agency. They still haven’t helped Bradford with some big targets, but the did bulk up the backfield. In the weakest division in the league, I think this may be a playoff year for them.
Chiefs 15    Last Week:11
I do not want to say last year was luck, but it was definitely helpful that the division was just bad altogether. I think the Chargers bounce back which in turn the Chiefs will bounce down.
Buccaneers 16    Last Week:14
I wish I knew what the Bucs were thinking with all that cap space and no major signings.
Texans 17    Last Week:22
Kubiak is still the coach and they bring in Wade? I smell disaster…but they do have the talent and have made some major changes on defense.
Lions 18    Last Week:21
They aren’t starting out well with rookie injuries. However, if they can keep healthy they could surprise a lot of people.
Cardinals 19    Last Week:27
I think Kolb can help them overcome a disastrous year. But he’s not a solve all.
Cowboys 20    Last Week:20
Talent? Yes, Consistency? No.
Titans 21    Last Week:25
Chris Johnson holdout is making things look meek. But I like the way Locker is looking and Hasselbeck is good when healthy.
Dolphins 22    Last Week:17
They lost their wildcat and backfield. I think they could end up a gigantic disaster this year, but I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Raiders 23    Last Week:24
I still do not think that this team will make it back to the playoffs until Al Davis is ready to let go of the control. Which will probably be over his dead body.
Seahawks 24    Last Week:8
The only reason they are even this high is because they were able to do something in the playoffs. However, they also could be a hot mess waiting to happen.
Vikings 25    Last Week:23
Mcnabb in purple and gold?
Bills 26    Last Week:29
I think they can surprise people this year, but based off last year and their major losses on defense. I just don’t see it happening.
Panthers 27    Last Week:32
Cam Newton may have something, but I don’t think it’s a game changer in this division.
49ers 28    Last Week:24
They haven’t made as many changes as I think they would have liked to, and Gore isn’t helping. I said it at the end of last year and I will say it now, they will seek Luck in the draft.
Browns 29    Last Week:28
Madden Curse on an already mediocre team….bad combo.
Broncos 30    Last Week:31
The QB issue isn’t their only problem.
Redskins 31    Last Week:26
I believe Shanahan has made more of a mess than helped
Bengals 32    Last Week:30
I don’t think anything can save Marvin Lewis’ job after this year. This will be a disastrous year.

{September 20, 2009}   Week 2 Needs and Predictions….

Alright Week 2, hopefully we can see a lot clearer this week to what happened last week, heroes will emerge and some will falter. Do you see what I see for week 2?

Panthers V. Falcons

Alright, I think that anytime you have inter-division play anything is possible. However with the way the Panthers looked last week I think that the Falcons will show their critics that they came to play, look for more action from Abraham who is coming off a 2 sack week to continue to help dominate the Falcons D. I think that with Gonzalez proving that age ain’t nothing but a number and seems to be Ryan’s new favorite target. I also think that Turner will need to turn it out this week for the Falcons to be dominant. On the other hand if Delhomme looks like he did last week they will make it very easy for the Falcons to win this one.

Saints V. Eagles

So it looks like Mcnabb will sit this one out and that Kolb will be starting which is something you probably wouldn’t want to do week 2 vs. someone with an offense like the Saints. But you also don’t want to further damage a QB who is known for his comebacks. While I think that the Eagles are good playoff contender team, I just like the Saints their offense is at the top of its game with a QB that just a few years ago people were counting out. I think that their defense is getting there little by little, but they need to step it up and make sure that their offense is on the field more than their defense! I like the Saints even on the road!

Rams V. Redskins

I don’t think there is really much to say on this one. I don’t see the Rams pulling one out on the road. I think the Redskins are good at home and have the right tools to not embarrass themselves by losing to the Rams. The Rams defense was more awake last week then their offense but I have a feeling we will be seeing the same game as we did last week vs. the Seahawks.

Texans V. Titans

So we got two teams looking for their first win in the same division. I think that although it’s a divisional game which means anything can happen, I don’t see the Texans being able to stop the Titans Offense. Even with grandpa Kerry heading the team, their run game will be able to move, and I think Houston’s offense will suffer against the Titans unless, Schuab will pull out all the stops, but the Titans D looked good against the Steelers and I think they can pull it off against a team that seems to have no confidence in themselves despite their talent on the offensive side of the ball. Advantage Titans!

Patriots V. Jets

I love inter-division play, and what I love most about it is the shit talking that happens between those with a history. Now, why I think that the Jets have a lot to be happy on their defense and with Welker possibly out there will be full concentration on Moss, which Revis has proven before against the much taller Moss. I think that a lot will do with the ground game, to see if one of them can get moving. The Pats have suffered a lot of change and injury on their defense and even with a dominant offense their D is what almost cost them the game in Buffalo. On the other hand the Jets D is what made it easier for the Jets offense to score some points so it really comes down to who shows up on Sunday more the Jets Offense or the Pats Defense. I am going to go on record with this not just cause I am a Jets fan. But I think that if the Jets D is hot from snap one they will win the game!

Bengals V. Packers

I think the Packers will show up a little more this week against a Bengals offense that still has an injured QB who is still playing. Rodgers really needs to prove himself by winning a game right out not one that wins only at the very end. I think this is the week Rodgers can break out and prove that the Packers are here for real!

Cardinals V. Jaguars

Here is where it gets interesting for the Cards, if they don’t show up against a very mediocre Jags team I might start to count the Cards out. While the Jags have a great ground game, they need to improve on their passing game if they want to get some wins. The Cards also need to improve on and take advantage of their amazing receiver core that got no love last week if they want to win this game. If they do I think the Cards will get their first win this week.

Raiders V. Chiefs

I love it when two bad teams within a division play each other because sometimes they end up better than one would think. However I think that the Raiders can win this game if Russell will just calm down and play. The Raiders defense should be able to shut down any offense that the Chiefs can muster up as I don’t see Cassel playing this week.

Vikings V. Lions

I know the Lions are dying to get their first win in over a year but I don’t think this will be their week. All though I think they will see a win this year. The Vikings defense looks to good for Smith to really get a run game going as the Vikings were the highest ranking rush defense last year. Plus as long as they keep to their running game and don’t let Favre pass the ball too much the Vikings should win this game.

Bucs V. Bills

I like the Bills on this one. The Bills showed they have some game in last weeks last minute loss against New England. I do think that a lot will depend on Fred Jackson making some plays but against the Bucs defense I think he can make a big impact with Edwards I think the Bills will get the win they should have got last week.

Seahawks V. 49ers

This game for me is a lot like the Jets/Pats game. In inter-division it can be anyones game but more than that this game will help see if who will be the more dominant team in the division. The Seahawks beating the Rams and the 49ers pulling out a win against Arizona both of these teams want to make a statement that they can win their division this year and it will come down to whose offense can run the ball. I think that I will give the win barely to the 49ers…I think they are hungry this year. I think this game will have a lot of good plays.

Steelers V. Bears

So Cutler will get another chance to show the Bears that getting him was worth it right? Wrong. I see the Steelers even without Polamalu all over Cutler and all over the field. The Bears defense I don’t think is strong enough to go against the Steelers offense running game or no running game. As long as Big Ben gets rid of the ball fast enough there are plenty of receivers to catch those throws. I think that the Steelers will win this one.

Ravens V. Chargers

I think that the Ravens will show not only their offense weapons as they did last week, I think that their Defense will be all over the Chargers offense. The Chargers will be limited. I like the Ravens in this one and I think last week proved they have a better shot this year than last year which makes them dangerous.

Browns V. Broncos

Alright this game is up in the air for me. Two teams trying to make a name with two unproven QB’s. I really like the Browns D. I think that if their D can stop any sort of running game the Broncos can come up with I think they can win. I won’t count the Broncos totally out, they got lucky last week its possible they can pull out another this week.

Giants V. Cowboys

This hopefully will be a great game and a high points game. I think it has the potential. The fact that Manning hasn’t found a consistent target could remain a good thing or could cause some drop balls. If he can keep the ball in many different peoples hands they could score early and score a lot. In the same breath, if Romo can put up the same numbers this week as he did last week I think the Cowboys could walk away with a win. But since they are in Dallas this week I will give the Cowboys the advantage but if someone hits that stupid screen in the sky I hope the Giants get it done.

Colts V. Dolphins

If this game comes out the way I think it will, this will be a boring Monday night game. This year the Dolphins have two MNF appearances and I don’t know if they will really show up to either one. The Dolphins looked pretty bad against the Falcons last week and I don’t know if their defense can stop an offense like the Colts to keep the Dolphins on the field long enough to score. I think the Colts will win and win well down in Miami.

These are my picks and my opinions, agree or disagree I welcome them all. But don’t hate when I am right! See ya after Monday Night Football!

{September 19, 2009}   Week 1 Round up

Alright Week 2 is upon us, and week 1 is in the books. What have we learned or seen?

1st of all….last season means nothing, preseason means nothing and week 1 barely means anything!

Last season is over, while there may be teams that were great last season it doesn’t always equate to them being just as good this season. In the same sense just because a team sucked last year doesn’t mean they don’t have a chance this year. everyone’s love affair with the New England just because Brady is back doesn’t mean a 16-0 season is on its way. Their defense has changed and they have lost a lot of key players in their D…Vrabel, Seymour, and not to mention an injured Mayo. In the same breath, what is up with all these people picking the San Diego Chargers to go to the Superbowl? Being the best in probably the crappiest division in the leagues does not make a champion team. They have had a lot of chances and haven’t been able to capitalize on it. Phillip Rivers doesn’t look like the money he was just paid, and LT while on my fantasy leagues is no longer the man he was. I am not saying they aren’t going to the playoff as I don’t think their division rivals have any chance unless the Raiders keep turning things around. But I also don’t think they are going to fight their way from Wildcard weekend all the way to the Superbowl they are not that strong.

If the preseason is supposed to be for players to get out on the field and play before the real season why is it that all I heard last week was about players being rusty? Hello isn’t that what the preseason is for? to work out all the kinks and play before playing in the regular season? I understand that sometimes its for proving yourself as the starter as in the case of the Cleveland Browns and the New York Jets with their QB situation, but if you are sitting out all preseason because there is either a worry of you hurting yourself or what not then you suck in week one because of you being rusty what is the fricking point of having a preseason at all?

Week 1- What did we see?

Steelers V. Titans

The Steelers looked good, but they have a QB who can’t seem to let go of the ball in a decent amount of time and they have no run game. Now with Polamalu out I wonder what surprises the D will have. Polamalu showed his best the first half and it really was the Titans v. Polamalu until he was injured. The Titans even with Grandpa Kerry, still seem to have the possibility of the playoffs as their D even without Haynesworth can make the plays and I wouldn’t take this loss as what’s to come. They hung in there till the end.

Chiefs V. Ravens

Ok, last year the Ravens were my upset pick and I think this year they even have a better chance. Yes, the chiefs scored 24 points on them, but the Ravens had over 500yds offense and Flacco seems to be able to go into his sophomore year looking pretty good and their defense is good too. Ok the Chiefs which some probably expect to be one of the worse teams in the league this year showed some promise even without their off season acquirement of Cassel being able to play. I don’t think they will pass .500, but to hold up against the Ravens as long as they did I think they will win a few games, they do play in a pretty bad division a couple of wins could come up.

 Broncos v. Bengals

I was mad when they decided to play the rest of this game after the Colts won their game, but it was a good game to catch the last 30 seconds of. The Broncos may have won, but I think the Bengals are a better team. They just need to figure out their offense with an ailing Palmer. Orton, which is probably the worse choice for this Broncos team didn’t look as good as his numbers may have looked. 87 of his 243 yds and his 1 TD came from the luck of a swatted up instead of down deflection. Their running game was non existent and my opinion is they should have never fired Shanahan. But Benson looked good for the Bengals and if Palmer can ever get his groove back they could make some plays with Ocho Cinco and Coles.

 Jaguars V. Colts

I feel for the Jags, they have been in the Colts shadow for so long and they can’t escape while I think they have been on the verge for years this is just not going to be the year for them. Garrard did not look well, and if it weren’t for Drew-Jones, and the Colts offense giving up the ball they wouldn’t have been in the game. I don’t know if it’s a new head coach, or just new season jitters, but Manning took a little too much time to look like himself and hopefully he can keep that momentum going. The AFC south is thought to be one of the stronger divisions by some but really I think that if Colts just play they will win it this year easily.

 Lions v. Saints

The Lions are the sad story of the NFL, everyone seems to be behind them and hope they win a few games this year. However you  can’t expect them to go against the best offense going on right now and win. They however got some points up and Stafford got his feet wet, but 3 INT in your 1st game with no touchdowns is pretty hurtful, but I believe there is hope for them to win a game it just you couldn’t expect this to be the one. The Saints however looked so good with players that people were wondering who or where they were coming from. Henderson and Bell showed the depth of the Saints offense and with someone like Brees to head it up I have no doubt that the Saints could win their division and be a force in the playoffs, but their D which went virtually unchanged need to step it up cause having the best offense means nothing without a defense to match it.

Jets v. Texans

When comparing the rookie QB’s this season I have to say obviously Stafford’s performance made Sanchez look good. But Sanchez made himself look good as well, but their defense really stepped it up and limited Slaton to only 17 yards. The Jets looked better than a lot of people thought they would a rookie QB/Head coach worked for the Falcons and Ravens last year it could at least get the Jets a winning season but week 2 will be the bigger test. The Texans like the Jags in their division have been expected to break through for the last couple of years now. The Texans got their only TD on defense and it was off a deflection. I think the Texans have had talent for a long time they just can’t seem to put it altogether and be successful in a game.

Eagles V. Panthers

I hate to say this as I have been a fan of the Panthers since their Superbowl run, but I think they have finally ran out of breath. Delhomme started his season the way he ended last season and it was not on a good note. 73 yds and 4 int would make anyone drop Delhomme from their fantasy team and write him off for the year. I think that is sad to see it but I do think that the Panthers will struggle to get wins this year. The Eagles however surprisingly impressed me as every year they usually do, I always think this is the last year Mcnabb will be force and he really put himself out there week 1, but unfortunately he put himself way too much out there and broke his rib which if he doesn’t rest it, there is a chance that the rest of the year could be on Vick’s shoulders….I know I know they are playing Kolb, but I don’t see that lasting if Mcnabb is out for a longer period of time.  I do still think that the Eagles have a great chance in making the playoffs as the Giants receivers are pretty non existent and the Cowboys have yet to have a decent follow-through.

Dolphins V. Falcons

Ok, the Dolphins won the AFC east last year, but the Dolphins have Pennington as their QB, and his record has been 1 good year followed by a bad one followed by a good one again, and if this game is any indication this will be his bad year. 176yds, 1 last minute TD, and 1 int. But worse than that was their O-Line Pennington was sacked 4 times, and their running game never took off. They have talent but no protection. The Falcons were one of the more talked about teams in the off season, Can Ryan have a great sophomore year, is Turner able to duplicate last year, and can they make the playoffs once again but this time do something? I believe that time will tell, while they won a game, Turner (no pun intended) really needs to turn it out for them to have the same results this year and to make a difference in the playoffs, it’s really between them and the Saints to win the division but its a big possibility that one could get a wild card spot.

Vikings V. Browns

Ok, yeah so the Vikings have Favre but what he did any QB could have done…but what Peterson did is what is worth talking about the Vikings and real playoff potential. I don’t think Favre is going to make much of a difference this year except for having the experience of a veteran. Their defense has a lot of potential as well, but it needs to be able to stop a team like the Browns from scoring. The Browns, now I am not trying to hate on just because Mangini is over there but without a proven QB and I don’t think that Quinn is going to skate through the season without having some sort of  possibility of Anderson taking some snaps. I think that Browns could get some wins, but I don’t think they are strong enough to make any real shake ups or moves.

Cowboys V. Bucs

So just because the Cowboys won week 1, I hope those crazy fans aren’t thinking Superbowl just yet. The Bucs are not that great of a team. It’s nice to see Cadillac back and make some plays but they seem like a stitched team that was randomly put together. The Cowboys did look good but lets wait for a real game before giving “America’s team” a new ring, the regular season isn’t their problem the playoffs are!

49ers v. Cardinals

Ok, so maybe its Superbowl sickness or whatever people are calling it, but I find it quite hard to believe that with two guys like Fitzgerald and Bouldin that losing game 1 is really going to be a telling of the season to come. I think that there is a great possibility that the NFC West could be a better division than people think they are minus the Rams of course. But it’s not about them versus the rest of the NFL, but I think it could be them versus themselves that actually will decide who will win the division. I think that these two teams with the Seahawks could have a fight til the last week for who wins the division. The niners do have some work cut out for them as they are still a young team, but if Gore can get his game going and the D makes plays as they did versus the Cards great things could come from it.

Rams V. Seahawks

Ok, I live in the NW and I hear it all the time how great the Seahawks will be every year, but really you can’t say anything about the Seahawks this game, the only thing that should be talked about is how bad the Rams looked, I think they may turn into the Lions this year. Bulger isn’t happy, and the Holt is gone, and Jackson had nowhere to go. They really need to see what is going on within themselves if they want to win a game this year. On the bright side for the Seahawks I would like to see what Julius Jones can do. Some people say fluke, but only time will tell.

Redskins V. Giants

I make it no hidden fact that I am not the biggest fan of Eli Manning, but he did work the field and seem to share the love amongst several receivers. However, I don’t believe beating the Redskins counts for them to be a powerhouse by any means especially given the division they are in. The Redskins have been at the bottom of their division and  I don’t see them moving up much, while they will pull off some wins the addition of Haynesworth isn’t enough to make their offense make key plays they are lacking.

Bears V. Packers

Wow….this game surprised me, you can’t expect anything with inter-division games. I am interested to see what happens in this division as they were one that some people were talking about having three teams going to the playoffs. I don’t think that the Bears really have a chance, and Cutler was lucky that the game ended up as close as it did with all of his faults in the first half, however with the lack of receivers and the defense already hurt with the loss of Urlacher, I think this will not be the year that Bear fans have been waiting for. The Packers however I think have the potential to make some waves and possibly spoil their old QB’s playoff dreams with their new team and rightfully so. I think Rodgers has only room to grow this season and it will be interesting to see how things go on October 5th when they face the Vikings.

Bills V. Patriots

So what can you get from this game? Are the Bills good this year or are the Pats not all they are cracked up to be? I actually think it may be a little of both. I think that Edwards did a lot better than people gave him credit for, myself incuded. I think that he looked good, but more than that I think that Fred Jackson looks good and if he continues again this week Lynch might have to worry when he gets back if he’s going to start or not. The Patriots had no running game, but Moss did have a good game, but now with Welker possibly out or at least injured its up to Moss to take control, but other teams will notice this. The Pats defense is what fans should be worried about, with Mayo out and possibly some more injuries to their D that had enough changes in the off season to not have to worry about injuries.

Chargers V. Raiders

Here is another situation of was it that the Chargers are not that good or the Raiders are good? Now unlike the Pats and Bills, I think that the Raiders (god love them) are not as good as they looked but in the same breath I think the Chargers are as bad as they looked. They pulled out a bad call win and they have a RB that has lost his step and a QB that may not be worth the money he was just paid. They do have a lot of great players but they make sloppy decisions, time will tell if all the hype that was given before week 1 happen is worth it.

Please comment if you think I am wrong, think I am right, or think I am downright crazy! We are all fans and have our opinions, but maybe you have a point I haven’t considered yet, or maybe I have done the same for you.

See ya in week 2,
